For most people, the eruption of wisdom teeth is practically a rite of passage and usually occurs when a person is in their late teens or early 20s. When wisdom teeth erupt, there is frequently not enough room for them to do so properly, and they may come in sideways, only partially or not at all. It may be time to have your wisdom teeth removed if you experience pain, swelling or tenderness in your gums. You may also have problems opening your mouth or experience discomfort or swelling in your jaws. Bad breath or even a bad taste in your mouth can also be indicators that your wisdom teeth are erupting.
